The Latics lost 3-2 at Ewood Park when they took on Blackburn Rovers in the League Cup on Tuesday night. They took an early lead through Gevaro Nepomuceno when he struck home in the 14th minute, which they held until the 70th minute after Smith-Brown lost possession. They regained the initiative after Mohamed Maouche smashed the ball into the top corner in the 80th minute.
Instead of playing out the game they gave away two goals in injury time from which there was no coming back. It was the same feeling for the Latics fans who made the trip but it was elation for the Rovers faithful.
