The Latics have announced the launch of the Oldham Athletic Development Centre, trials for which will begin as soon as possible for the intake season of 2020/21. It will act as a direct pathway to the Oldham Athletic Academy. The plan is for it to provide high-quality training and competitive games to support the improvement of local players. The plan will commence when the Government agrees to allow normal or regulated resumption of sporting facilities.

James Caldwell is the head coach and said, “Our aims at the Development Centre is to develop players who are maybe on the right path towards either academy or professional football but need that additional coaching or support to bridge that gap. We aim to create modern footballers who are both technically and tactically astute, whilst also promoting the great social and psychological attributes that will support them in a lifelong enjoyment of sport.”

The Academy Manager Paul Murray commented, “Oldham Athletic Academy is delighted with the new partnership we have managed to create. This will enable us to widen our search for talented players to come into the setup at Boundary Park, with the main aim of giving more players the chance to represent the club at first team level. I know with James the Development Centre will become a very professional and fruitful partnership and we look forward to seeing future talent fluorish in Oldham.”
