Latics struggling for players in last away game of the season

The Latics enter the final away game of the season struggling for senior players. Ruled out are Haining (pictured), Stam and Porter with Hall doubtful. The only good news is that Wellens is fit and Branston should get himself fit for the game. Only a win is enough if Athletic are to creep into the play-offs, probably on the last game of the season. Should the Latics lose, their season is over.

Ronnie Moore told the official website, "It is a must win game, simple as that. We have had the chances this season, but we have not been good enough. When you look back at the opportunities we have had it is just ridiculous. But we are still in with just a little sniff, although we can come off at Doncaster with a great win and all our rivals can have won. That would mean the end of the dream for this season. The most important thing is that we do our part, forget everything else and go out and win the game. Whatever happens we still want to finish as high as we possibly can."

"Doncaster are big and strong and can vary their game. As well as knock it about they can also be direct. They will be a threat going forward, there is no doubt about that. They have spent some money, put a good side together and have had another tremendous season. It is going to be tough, a real battle. They will say that we are direct, everybody seems to associate us with that style and can't play football. But we have shown we can play some reasonable stuff, even though there have been other times when the football hasn't been brilliant. It is all about grinding out results as well, you can't always be nice and pretty. But the fans should be in for a decent game."

"We will have 16 players to travel and I will probably have to take a couple of kids just in case anything else happens. These are the cards you are dealt, but there is no point moaning about it and you just have to get on with it. We know we have to win the game. It would be nice going with Will Haining, Guy Branston and Chris Swailes and Chris Porter up front as well as Andy Liddell in the side, but we haven't got them. We will shuffle the pack on Friday and see what comes out."
