Ritchie delighted as he puts one over

Former boss Andy Ritchie was obviously delighted to have put one over on his counterpart and mate John Sheridan after he watched his team knock out the Latics on their own patch. He told the official Terriers website, "It wasn't pretty but we got there in the end. They put us under a lot of pressure at times but we defended very well. We got the goal that counted and it was ironic that it was Luke who got it again. We had a few good chances in the second half that we could have done better with but it was frantic. We have had two real battling performances on the back of each other now, with Brighton last week and now today. All the lads deserve credit though, it was epitomised by the number of players who jumped in front of the ball in the dying minutes. Everyone gave their all and we wanted a battling performance again. Oldham certainly wanted to get through as much as we did."

"We need to take this into the League now, but we've said that before. Maybe this is how we need to play; it's not as attractive as I would want or I'm sure what some of our fans would want, but if gets the right results then that's what we are in the business for. All the players have been talking about the fans. They were fantastic all the way through. If we can get that to reverberate around the Galpharm then that would be fantastic. It is difficult to do that through the thin times, but we need that."

"Liverpool did us a favour knocking out Havant and Waterlooville, because we didn't want them! We are potentially talking about venues now that all footballers would want to grace. Today has been a good result for us, but we cannot celebrate it because the draw is not until Monday and we have a game in the League this Tuesday. My choice for the next round would be Man United for obvious reasons. I've said it before but I'd love to take my team back to the place I started my career."
