Rocastle hopes to keep his place

Craig Rocastle stepped up for first team action in Athletic's convincing win at Northampton last Sunday and is hoping that he did enough to convince manager John Sheridan to keep his place in Athletic's starting line up when they entertain Ronnie Moore's Tranmere on Saturday. He replaced ever present Gary McDonald who had to sit out the game through suspension. It leaves Sheridan with a dilemma, albeit a nice one. Rocastle (pictured) played a major part in the victory which leaves McDonald in a battle to win back his central midfield spot.

Shez commented, “Craig hasn't had a lot of football recently but he did very well coming into the side. He didn't look out of place in there so it gives me something to think about before a difficult game with Tranmere. Craig has played his part in a winning side, which makes my job harder when I'm picking the team for next weekend. The Tranmere game will be very tough because I fancy them to get into the play-offs, but there is nothing to say Gary McDonald will come straight back in.”
