New Ground Unveiled

The Latics last week unveiled their plans for their new ground at Failsworth and chief executive Alan Hardy is looking to Oldham Council to follow through with their promises to make the venture a reality. The Latics have already ploughed several million pounds into the purchase of the site and they have also added over £250,000 for developing the plans.

He said, "The one thing which is critical to the development going ahead is that Oldham Council deliver on their promise that land adjacent to the British Aerospace site is made available to us on a long lease. That will enable us to deliver these fabulous facilities for the Oldham community. Now we need Oldham Council to finalise matters at their end as soon as possible as every day is crucial. We were very pleased with the turnout (of fans) and that so many fans had the time to come along. Ninety-nine per cent were delighted with what they saw. I understand fans preferring to have the corners enclosed which is something we would like. We are speaking to organisations at the moment who could be interested in taking space in the corners, and that could help fill them in sooner rather than later."
