The Latics continued their undefeated pre-season build up with a 1-1 draw at Accrington Stanley on Tuesday. They played some creative football but were countered by a Stanley team who were in determined mood. Jose Baxter scored an equalising goal for Athletic and they should have won the game late on but some wayward shooting and desperate defending deprived them.
Accrington took the lead in the 13th minute and Baxter's strike came just before half-time after some good build-up work from Cristian Montano and James Tarkowski.
