Agents fees lose Latics money

Last updated : 13 July 2006 By Dave Moore
Last season the Latics paid a total of £45,000 in fees to football agents, a figure confirmed by the recent Football League report. The majority of it was spent by ex-boss Ronnie Moore on the 12 players that he brought in in his attempt to build a championship side. He paid a total of £35,000 in fees in the first half of the season alone with the remainder coming from the later signings, contract cancellations and loan deals. Not surprisingly, Nottingham Forest handed over the most to agents in League One. They paid a total of almost £240,000 and, to their credit, eight League One clubs paid no agents fees at all.

A total of £7.66 millon was paid to agents, most of which was spent by the Championship clubs. The Premiership is not included in the Football League report.
