Aljofree chomping at the bit

28 year old defender Hasney Aljofree can't wait to play for Athletic after signing on a month's loan from Plymouth Argyle.

He said, "I had a chat with Shez on Monday so I knew pretty early on that I might be coming to Oldham, and I'm delighted to be here. I played with him when I was a youngster at Bolton, and he was a great professional and a fantastic footballer. Speaking to John made my mind up about coming here, and as a bonus my family are from the Manchester area. I just want to play football. Ian Holloway didn't want me to leave as I've been a big part of the side this season, but I made it clear to him that I wanted to play. It doesn't matter whether its at Oldham Athletic or Plymouth Argyle. I wasn't prepared to stop after playing 30 games so far and just let my season fizzle out. That's the end of it, really, and Ollie was fine about it in the end."

"I know Oldham were top of the league at one point, and they've been having a very good season. Now hopefully we can push on, and I want to help take this club into the Championship. If I can help the lads get where they want to be, that would be great. I could have stayed at Plymouth, and there were one or two other Championship clubs showing interest. Obviously geography came into it as well, but to be honest the fact that Oldham are pushing for promotion was one of the deciding factors behind the move. I've got another year left on my contract at Plymouth, but you never know what's going to happen."

"My missus' family are all mad Oldham fans. I hope they're not going to be giving me stick from the terraces! At Plymouth none of them would know if I had a bad game, but now there's nowhere to hide! It's good to be back in Manchester. My mum only lives ten minutes away. I'm looking forward to the challenge here at Oldham."
