Former Latics goalkeeper Andy Rhodes has returned to Boundary Park as goalkeeping coach, a position he held at Barnsley. The goalkeepers at Athletic have had no coach since Gary Kelly retired from the job earlier this season. It is understood that Rhodes will work a couple of day's a week at Boundary Park and will also be taking time out to work with Manchester City's goalkeepers.

Rhodes is 38 and made over 75 appearances for Athletic between 1988 and 1990. His pinnacle was an appearance at Wembley in the 1990 Littlewoods Cup final which the Latics lost 1-0 against Nottingham Forest.
