After Steve Corry's decision to not join the Latics and instead take an offer at Kettering Town, former Leeds United keeper Shaun Allaway has come to Boundary Park on trial. Allaway was released by the Elland Road outfit after being signed at 17 for £300,000 from Reading. The promising youngster was once viewed as having England potential and arrives as a free agent although he never made a first team appearance for Leeds in his four year spell. Allaway is 6’-2” tall and also had spells on loan at Walsall and Grimsby but has still not made his league debut.

Brian Talbot said, “I’ve seen Allaway play a couple of times and I thought he did quite well. He was obviously very promising as a teenager but it didn’t work out at Leeds. We’ll take a look at him for the rest of this week.”
