Another nail in the coffin

Athletic’s owner Chris Moore has rejected the latest takeover offer which could mean the death of Oldham Athletic. After the rejection the potential buyers admitted, “I don’t know where we go from here. Investors were confident of
new terms being accepted, especially as they viewed the deal as a compromise. We wanted to find some middle ground, but that hasn’t been the case. To be honest, given what Chris Moore is looking for, we’ll find it hard to meet him halfway.”

It was understood that Mr. Moore was prepared to write off his £4million loan and give away his shares for nothing but his other conditions couldn’t be agreed. The club have no other options currently available and unless a deal can be settled before Friday they will have to go into liquidation as the two sides are too far away to settle. Mr. Moore has already stated that no more money will be put into Athletic which means that players will be able to walk away from their contracts if they do not get paid.
