Athletic could lose Owen for weekend

Stoke could recall defender Gareth Owen before Athletic meet Tranmere on Saturday. The recently negotiated loan spell could be cut short as the Potters put in a recall clause. Injury problems and suspensions mean that Stoke will take Owen back if things do not improve before the weekend.

Alan Hardy said, “There’s a recall clause and we are hoping Stoke’s situation improves by Friday.” Ex-Latics star Clint Hill may be recalled for the first division club and they have already taken back two players who were on loan with other clubs. If Owen is forced to go back to Stoke it could open up a spot for Dave Beharall who played a full game in the reserves 3-1 win over Stockport County yesterday.
