Athletic wait for players offered deals

Athletic are still waiting to hear from Chris Porter, Will Haining and Richie Wellens who have all been offered new deals for next season. Alan Hardy said, "They still have another month before they have to officially reply to our offers, but we'd obviously like an early indication so that John Sheridan has a better idea of his recruitment plans for the new season."

Chris Porter (pictured) is constantly being linked with other clubs and is due to fly out of the UK this week on his summer holidays so the club are hoping that a deal can be struck before he goes. Porter was last weekend linked with Bristol City and one paper suggested that Gary Johnson could be used as a cash plus player swap.

Another club who are considering bidding for the 23 goal star from last season is Middlesbrough. Borough boss Gareth Southgate is considering making a move soon and is watching developments. Bolton, Sunderland and Sheffield Wednesday are also keeping tabs on what is happening with the 23 year old striker.
