Banide goes - Mammria arrives

The Latics have sensationally fired head coach Laurent Banide after the 2-2 draw at Scunthorpe on Tuesday. He has been immediately replaced with Dino Maamria who now becomes the latest new 'Head Coach' of the club. How long wil he last? He has signed a deal that will last until the end of the 2020/21 season.

Mammria is 48 years old and was recently the boss of Stevenage Town from March 2018 until earlier this month, where he just missed out on the play-offs. Originally from Tunisian he had an English playing career before taking up coaching and management. he has been assistant manager at Preston North End and Newport County.

Maamria commented, “I’m hugely excited to join such a historical football club. The vision and ambition of the Chairman was a big factor and the first priority is to stabilise and unite this great football club. I’m here to win football matches as well as improve, give confidence and belief to an already talented squad.” We wish him well but most Latics' fans will have reservations as to how long 'this one' will last! The track record of managers at Oldham does not instill any longevity.
