Barrow 0 Oldham Athletic 2

The Latics made a winning start for new manager Paul Dickov with a 2-0 victory at Barrow. Chris Taylor gave the club a scare when he had to be replaced through injury after 35 minutes but Scott McLaughlin, one of Athletic's triallists, scored the opener just three minutes from the half-time break. It was an experimental line up as the new manager made 10 changes after half time. Other triallists who played were ex-Brentford man Lanre Oyebanjo and Liverpool's Scott Highdale.

Young keeper Josh Ollerenshaw earned his corn early in the second half when he stopped a fine effort from Barrow's Nick Chadwick but the Latics sealed the win with a second goal from Lewis Alessandra midway through the second half.
