Huddersfield Town have reached an agreement with Sheffield United over ex-Latics loan player Luke Beckett. Luke will sign for the Terriers subject to a medical on Monday. The fee is undisclosed but is rumoured to be in the region of weeks of speculation surrounding the 29 year old former Latics favourite. Beckett also endeared himself to the Huddersfield fans during his loan spell in the 2004-2005 season, when he scored 6 goals in 7 games.

Town manager Peter Jackson said, "Obviously I am absolutely delighted that we have finally reached an agreement on Luke. It has dragged on a lot longer than I think all of us wanted but it is done now and it is great news for Huddersfield Town. I had other striker options and there were other clubs interested in him but Luke has been my first choice for a long time and this was the only place he wanted to come. He scored six goals in seven games for us on loan in 2005 and had a great return last season, scoring 18 goals in 28 starts, a ratio which put him in the top five strikers in the country. Like I say, it has been a long, drawn out process but we held our nerve and I am sure he will be worth it. He is a proven goalscorer and I am sure he will be a huge success here."
