Beckett or Killen could face the chop

Athletic's current goal drought has lead Ronnie Moore to indicated that he is considering dropping Killen or Beckett, or both, for the visit to Swansea on Saturday. Both players were instrumental in keeping Athletic alive in League One last season but are currently struggling to find the net.

Moore said, “Killen and Beckett ended last season very well and looked as though they could definitely play together. But I’m starting to think we should play one or the other. It’s increasingly obvious we need pace in the forward line. Paul Warne would give us that, and he was looking very bright before he missed three games through suspension. I think he would do a good job, but Chris Porter and Andy Liddell are also more than capable of playing there."

“I only moved Liddell out wide because we switched to 4-4-2 and I thought it was the best option to go with Killen and Beckett up front. Porter has a problem with his knee, but he’s another lad who isn’t short of pace and we need some goals from somewhere.”

Moore also has teenager Chris Hall (pictured) in reserve. Hall has hit seven goals in six outings for Athletic's second string.
