Beresford signs

Manager John Sheridan has brought in Marlon Beresford as goalkeeping cover for Mark Crossley and Les Pogliacomi. Beresford joins the Latics on a one month loan from Luton Town and is delighted to back in first team action. The 38 year old has been out of favour at Kenilworth Road this season but did sterling work for the Hatters when they went up to the Championship as champions in 2004-05 season. He will make his debut at Huddersfield Town tomorrow.

Beresford told Latics World, "I'm looking forward to it. It's been a while since I've played so it'll be nice to get some games under my belt. I'm glad the opportunity arose and hopefully it'll be a good month. I've got good memories of this league from winning the title with Luton. I want to help John out and for things to turn out well. Kevin Blackwell has come in and changed things around at Luton, and that goes for the whole club and not just the goalkeeping department. A new manager brings in new players and new ideas, but that's football. Things change and you just have to move on."

"Now I'm looking forward to playing against Huddesfield on Saturday. It's sure to be a good derby atmosphere with a big crowd and big expectations, and it's a great place to go and start playing for Oldham. I know Mark Crossley from the past and he speaks highly of the lads and what they can achieve. I know we have been under-achieving so far this season but hopefully I can help put that right. I would be interested in extending the loan, but that's down to the circumstances surrounding the other lads and how long they're out. If they're back then they're the goalkeepers here so I'd probably have to look to move on again."
