New goalkeeping signing Alan Blayney explained to the official website about the circumstances that brought him to Boundary Park.

He said, "I was at Doncaster for a year and played a few games there. Then I got a bad injury to my elbow and wasn't happy when I couldn't get back in the side after I recovered, so I figured it was time to move on. Everyone has been fantastic since I arrived, and I'm very thankful to Shez for giving me a chance because he didn't have to. I heard that Oldham were looking for a goalkeeper, and luckily I got down here and they wanted to sign me."

"The few matches I played in the Premiership were great, but I didn't get a run of games. It was great experience, and I've now played at most levels having been loaned out to various clubs. Les is a great keeper, but really I was just looking to find myself a club and get back into the swing of things. We'll see how it pans out. I can see Oldham doing very well this season."
