Simon Blitz has praised the club's supporters after last night's planning meeting. Blitz flew in especially to take in the crunch meeting, and will return to the USA with the outline planning permission that he so desperately needed. The fans have been instrumental in writing in support of the application and also in collecting signatures in verious petitions to help the cause. After the initial proposal was turned down over 2,000 fans turned out in protest and marched to Boundary Park.

Mr. Blitz told Latics World, "The supporters are Oldham. Without the fans there would be no point in this development, and I would like to thank them. I would also like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas, and hopefully we can all look forward to a happy New Year. Obviously we're delighted the plans have been approved."

"To have them approved by ten votes to one means the whole town is behind us, and now we can move forward with our plans to bring everything we said we would to Oldham. We can look forward to regeneration of the whole site, a top hotel, banqueting and more. We will now be able to bring everything we've been saying we would from day one."
