Boss happy with performance

After the game at Prenton Park on Saturday, Latics boss John Sheridan told the official website, "I'm happy with the performance overall. Yes, I'm definitely disappointed by the way we didn't deal with the cross that led to their goal, but overall I think we played well. There were one or two decent performances out there. I thought we were the better team up until their goal. We had lots of possession, but you've got to create chances from that possession. We didn't really do that, and that is something I'll be working on. I think with this kind of performance - or even better, because I think we're capable of more - we'll get results in this league."

"The shape was OK and we caused them problems; perhaps we were a little naive defensively at times, but that will sort itself out with time. Of course I would have liked to pick up three points, but we've got two home games coming up and we need to get something from them. I won't accept anything less than a win against Port Vale on Tuesday."

"The fans were different class today. They came to support us in large numbers and I think we gave them a little bit to shout about. I've told the lads in the dressing room that if they put in maximum effort every game, then these fans will back them all the way."
