Boss happy with win

Latics boss Ronnie Moore was delighted with Athletics win over Colchester on Saturday, their fifth consecutive shut out game. He told the official site, "It was a tight game, but you had to expect that with so much at stake for both sides. A win would have put Colchester nine points clear but we are now just three points behind them and breathing down their necks. It wasn't pretty stuff, but right now results are more important than anything else and this was a big, big win. You have to give credit to our boys for the way they hung in there and dug out the result."

"The crowd also got behind us and that was a big help. That is the way games are going to go at the moment. The win has put more pressure on the teams in the top six, but we still have pressure on us because we are doing the chasing. The keeper and our back three have done well and looked very solid in the last five games and that is very pleasing. But although it wasn't nice or pretty, it was a good, all round team effort and if we can keep the run going who knows where we can finish?"

Ronnie also commented on the Kem Izzet sending off by adding, "It was a lack of professionalism and it probably cost them the game. But I will just settle for more 90th. minute goals from now until the end of the season, not many sides come back from those."
