Bradford City 1 Oldham Athletic 0

The Latics finished off their pre-season friendlies with a trip to Bradford City. The Bantams only had one chance in the first half but made sure that it counted. The Latics defence got it all wrong and allowed Daley to convert at his second attempt just before the half time whistle. His first stab was laughable but the shot that rifled past Mark Crossley seconds later didn't leave him laughing. Deane Smalley was dreadfully unlucky when his header hit the crossbar as he deserved better.

In the second half the visitors dominated play and had most of the possession just like the first half. They looked their most dangerous when Demar Phillips got the ball as he tantalised the Bradford defence, tackled superbly, and was very unlucky with a few chances on goal.

After the game John Sheridan said, "No-one in that dressing room is an automatic choice to start next week, I have told them all that they looked jaded at times and I expect more. Yes, I know it was only a friendly, but, at times we looked like we just were not sharp enough. We will be training morning and afternoon next week to put things right. I was happy with young Taylor and Phillips and Liddell was outstanding alongside Maher, the rest should be looking over their shoulders."
