Branston banned

Guy Branston was booked for the fifth time this season in the game against Swindon and will be banned from the team for the visit to Chesterfield. Red cards follow an automatic ban but yellow cards accumulate and start seven days later.

Ronnie Moore was unhappy with the booking and said, “Guy keeps trying to convince himself he has change. Okay, he hasn’t been sent off for a while, but he was lucky to get away with it on Saturday. He could have been booked, or worse, in the first half because he led with his elbow and wasn’t punished. Then, having escaped with that one, he got his yellow card for what can only be described as a Guy Branston tackle. He gave the referee no option. What you see is what you get, and I can’t criticise too much because Guy has done well this season and has been important to our defence. But with Will Haining picking up an injury last week, the timing of his suspension isn’t very good.”
