Athletic head off to Anfield next for the big FA Cup match on Sunday with a following of around 5,755 Latics fans who will make the journey. Danny Philliskirk is in line to make his comeback and there could also be a return to action for James Wesolowski – both players have been sadly missed recently.
Philliskirk has been struggling with strained knee ligaments and Wesolowski, who played in the team which saw off the Reds at Boundary Park last season, is hoping that he can shake off the pain from his niggling fractured cheekbone to make an appearance. A special mask has been made to protect Wes's injury.
Manager Lee Johnson hinted at bringing in a new face for the match too when he said, “You are always looking at the market to improve and that would be the same even if we were top of the league. We have to go forward and continue doing the right things, hoping the quality comes and the luck turns.”
