Brian Talbot followed up the midweek signing of Stefan Stam with a swoop to bring experienced left sided defender Guy Branston to Boundary Park. Branston is a 6’-0” tall tough, beefy defender who should go a long way to filling the holes in Athletic’s colinder like defence. Talbot worked with Branston when he went to Rushden and Diamonds on loan and the 26 year old has signed a contract which will keep him at the Latics until the end of next season. Branston joins from Sheffield Wednesday has made around 182 appearances the Owls, Leicester City, Rotherham and Rushden and Diamonds (loan). He will to go straight into the defence for the visit of Stockport County tomorrow.
