Bristol Rovers review

Tha Latics failed once again at home as Bristol Rovers went away from Boundary Park with a 2-0 victory. Failure to score was again the culprit and with a meagre four home goals in eight league games, the script writes itself. Stephen Robinson was left frustrated yet again and he commented,

“We played well at times and put a lot of balls into the box. Goals change games - we said that on Tuesday night - and we conceded from set plays twice, which absolutely kills me. This week has probably said everything about the season, going from a high to a low in a short space of time. Three or four players looked tired and we were concerned about that. We had certain players we felt might struggle from their recovery from Tuesday and I take the blame - maybe I should have changed the team wholesale."

"When you beat the league leaders it's difficult to justify a decision to do that. There were still good performances and chances for us to get something out of the game, which we didn't quite manage to take. Our performance was fine. We created chances and moved the ball about well. I have been with managers who out 60 balls into the box in training on Friday and concede, and managers who never do it at all and never concede. It's really down to individuals. If they have a desire to stop their man scoring then they will do it.”
