Hull City have swooped to complete the signing of Ben Burgess in a £100,000 deal. Burgess has been withdrawn from his loan contract with Athletic to enable him to sign for the Tigers.

A Hull spokesman said, “Obtaining Ben with seven games to go allows Peter Taylor to introduce him into the squad early and have him fully integrated by the start of next season.” Peter Taylor, the Hull manager added, “Ben is a player that I've always liked and my assistant Colin Murphy has worked with him so we know what he can do. We very nearly got him two months ago on a loan basis but this for me is even better at a good price. It's great that we've managed to get him in now and he will go into the squad for the Wrexham game a week on Saturday.”

Burgess only played in seven senior games for the Latics and failed to find the mark.
