Butcher rumours resurface

Unconfirmed rumours are again surfacing that Richard Butcher could be returning to Lincoln City once more. Butcher went to Sincil Bank on loan after being given a torrid time last season but returned to Athletic and went on to make 32 appearances. Ronnie Moore is conscious of the feelings that Butcher has and has agreed to let him go. Butcher himself has made no secret that he was unhappy and was keen to stay at Lincoln after his loan period was concluded.

Butcher said, "Lincoln is a great club and it will always have a special place in my heart. They are a club I certainly want to talk to over the summer about the possibility of a move. Hopefully, if Keith Alexander is still there, we can sit down and try to get something sorted out."

Alexander commented, "Hopefully, I will get the chance to talk to him because I certainly think there will be a few other clubs after him. However, he loves Lincoln and that could play into our hands. We shall just have to wait and see what happens."
