After Darren Byfield renewed his loan deal at Boundary Park until 10th. January, the former Aston Villa trainee confessed that he was delighted that Doncaster had allowed hin to extend his loan period.

Byfield told the official Latics website, "My main aim was always to stay here at Boundary Park for another month and now I want to weigh in with a few goals. I've not been on the losing side yet so hopefully that's a good omen and I can help the lads to get into an even better position. Playing up front with Lee Hughes has been an absolute joy and I feel like I'm getting sharper and sharper the more matches I play."

"I missed out on pre-season and was just finding my feet when the toe injury put me back. I feel good again now after training and playing again. I didn't want the loan spell to end and I'm delighted to re-sign. The gaffer's been brilliant, to be honest and I've enjoyed every minute. He is such an honest guy and likes to see the game played the way I like to play it."
