Benito Carbone has confirmed that Athletic have shown some interest in signing him. The 37-year-old Italian has experience with Italian giants Inter Milan, Torino, Napoli and Parma as well as English clubs Aston Villa, Bradford City, Derby, Middlesbrough and Sheffield Wednesday. Carbone has expressed a desire to return back to England and Wigan Athletic, Sheffield United, Walsall and the Latics have all shown an interest. His last club was Pavia who play in the fourth division of Italian football.
