Cervero could be new striker

Diego Cervero could be the new Latics striker that is so desperately needed in John Sheridan's new squad. He was named in the reserves squad at Mossley but didn't play due to injury. Cervero is a six-footer who has spent his entire career playing for Real Oviedo in Spain. Videos of the player show him to be an eccentric with what can only be described as crazy goal celebrations, some with him wearing underpants on his head! Looking a little overweight, the striker must prove his fitness before Shez will take a gamble on what could be the new age entertainer at Boundary Park, someone akin to the Alan Groves and Simon Stainrod entertainers of old.

Only offered a one-year contract at Oviedo, he decided to try his luck further afield. John Sheridan said, "He's come in and I'm going to have a look at him but he's well away from match fitness. He'll be here for another week and then we'll assess whether we pursue our interest."
