Changes possible for Yeovil visit

The Latics manager could make changes for tomorrow's game against Yeovil. With six players out through injury he doesn't have too many options but youngsters Kelvin Lomax and Deane Smalley have impressed and could be in line for a starting position.

Sheridan said, "Deane Smalley is too quiet and we've got too many lads who are like that. I'm sure they aren't quiet in their own environment and age group, but they need to express themselves and believe they are just as good as the people who have played 200 games. In the reserves and youth team, Deane has steamrollered defenders. He has the ability to do that, but he needs to show the desire. In our situation, where we've got quite a few kids involved with the first team, they need to be confident in their ability. They have to learn that it's no good to me if they are taking care of the ball one week but then it's bouncing off them the next. It all comes back to that word consistency, which is what we need if we are going to look at the play-offs."

"Lewis Alessandra (pictured) is doing okay. His touch has been all right, but I've watched the video and all he had to do on Tuesday was poke the ball in. The ball has flown across their box and a Lee Hughes or Luke Beckett type of player would have scored, so he has to 'think goals'. As a striker, that's what you are judged on. He can do better, but he's doing okay."
