Simon Charlton (pictured), Athletic's influential defender will miss the game against Millwall at Boundary Park next weekend after picking up his fifth booking of the season at Swansea. The yellow card, for dissent means an automatic one match ban as it was his fifth booking.

The ban means another chance for either Kelvin Lomax or Paul Edwards, who will step up to replace Charlton in the squad. Also in danger of suspension are Neal Eardley, Will Haining and Sean Gregan who have all been shown four yellows already and with only 15 matches left it is crucial that they keep the team together and continue the run to automatic promotion.

Latics boss John Sheridan has rewarded his team with a rest said, “The lads have been brilliant and it's fine by me if any of them want to take a day off during the week. They are as fit as they are going to be, so I'm quite happy for them to put their feet up and get ready for the game against Millwall.”
