Athletic are near to knowing their fate over the compensation package that they have to pay neighbours Bury for 21 year old striker Chris Porter. The clubs failed to agree a fee when the youngster was signed last summer and a Football League Appeals Committee will meet at Manchester to determine the fee. Judge R Reid QC will head the panel which will also contain Terry Dolan, John Bramhall, Mick McGuire and David Dent.
It is thought that Bury are asking for a six figure fee but Barry Chaytow, Alan Hardy and Ronnie Moore will be representing Athletic's side of the argument.
