"Corney - "We will continue to back Brian Talbot"
Co-owner Simon Corney has pledged his “total support” for suffering manager Brian Talbot. Mr. Corney and his partners, Simon Blitz and Danny Gazal, were as disapointed as the next supporter but promised that they would Corney backs Brian Talbot . Mr. Corney said, “I’m not going to sugar-coat this situation because we clearly need a big improvement. We should be higher up the table when you look at the players in our squad. And in terms of our starting XI, I honestly think we are among the best in the division. Things need to change, but Simon, Danny and myself continue to have a lot of faith in the manager. The team is going through a bad patch, but it’s early in the season and this is no time for everyone to panic.Corney backs Brian Talbot

Blackpool would sitting here 14th table. Unfortunately we lost, now there’s bit panic there. Nothing upsets me more than people saying players lack effort, although I must admit should be doing much better. They don’t just manager and club, represent the town Oldham. A lot of things need to change because when supporters turn out in force, which did on Sunday, they deserve a better performance.”< DIV “As?>Mr. Corney said money would be made available for new signings and went on to say, “Even if we could go out and sign four or five players, I don’t think it would be the answer. The players we have at the moment are good enough to move us up the table and keep us there, so it’s a case of getting the best from them. Clearly that’s up to Brian, but he wouldn’t get a refusal if he did find someone who could make a difference. There’s no way we’ll panic buy – that’s only going to give you even more problems – but we wouldn’t say no to anything reasonable. What I hope people remember is that we’ve already spent a fair amount on our squad, not in transfer fees but in wages. Players like Rodney Jack, Jermaine Johnson, Mark Arber, Mark Bonner and Kevin Betsy have all been put under contract in the last few months. None of them are at the lower end of the wage scale – in fact they are at the higher end for the division they play in. Relegation is not an option so we keep an open mind, but we can’t just go out and sign people every time there are a couple of defeats.”
