Corry to decide this week

Rumours have been abounding about Steve Corry’s future at Boundary Park. After the offer of a three-month trial at Athletic it was prematurely announced that he had signed a two year deal at Kettering Town but nothing has been signed as yet.

Corry is to meet with manager Brian Talbot this week to clear the air. Talbot has already stated that should the 6ft 5in keeper put in an impressive spell in his spell at Boundary Park, he will be taken on permanently as understudy to Les Pogliacomi. Corry was substitute in the last four games of the season only to be released and thentaken back for another chance.

The Poppies are hopeful of achieving league status and a deal with them would bring more security and it could be that the Latics may have to propose a better deal for the youngster. Talbot said, “I believe that at 22 Corry has enough size and potential to play at league level, but I also have alternative ’keepers in mind.”
