Craig Davies' sending off at Rochdale has cost him dearly. Manager John Sheridan was furious after the 22 year old was needlessly sent off for violent conduct after foolishly headbutting a Dale player straight in front of the referee. Described as an idiot by the boss, his punishment will be a club fine and he will also miss a Welsh international friendly game against Georgia after Athletic successfully requested his withdrawal for disciplinary reasons. Davies will also miss three Athletic games because of his indiscretion.
The withdrawal of Davies means that John Toshack will instead call up Athletic's Neal Eardley who will be promoted to replace him in the squad.
