Dickov pleased with Wigan result

Paul Dickov was pleased with the way his players responded against Wigan Athletic after a less than satisfactory display against Falkirk at Northwich Victoria. They took an early lead when Dale Stephens blasted home a rocket shot but Wigan fought back for an equaliser which was gained through a penalty.

Dickov said, "It was a fantastic result and I got everything I was looking for, especially after the first-half showing on Saturday. We had a chat about what happened and the players know what I expect of them and what they expect of each other. We had a good reaction in training and they were top class tonight, but again they have set the standards and not myself, Gerry Taggart or Lee Duxbury. We have to make sure we maintain those standards and we will remind them of what happened against Falkirk. It doesn't matter who you are playing against if we don't do things right we are a long way away. But if we do them right, we are not far away."

"I don't only want us to work hard, but also to play football and to get in crosses and shots at goal as we proved in the first half against a very good Premier League side. I told them they had pressed a lot of world-class players and won the ball back. And if we do the same against teams in our own division, then we will have half a chance."
