Donachie appointed temporary manager of Millwall

Ex- Latics star and former sidekick of Joe Royal, Willie Donachie, has been appointed temporary manager of Millwall. Donachie was assistant manager to Nigel Spackman and very strong rumours that he had been sacked as manager of Millwall Football Club have now been confirmed, allowing Donachie to take over.

The Lions fifth straight defeat at home to Northampton Town on Saturday was the last straw and the supporters staged an immediate protest. Spackman was appointed in the summer but the results on the pitch failed to meet Millwall's expectations and he said after the match, "If you don't get results, your head is on the line. I would be lying if I said the fans calling for my head didn't affect me, but you get on with it. I understand why the fans are disgruntled. But a club that's had five managers in two years needs stability."

He should have added, "make that six managers!"
