Former Latics star and Joe Royle's sidekick from the glory years, Willie Donachie, will bring his Millwall players to Boundary Park on Saturday in a confident mood. The likeable manager of the Lions has seen his rejuvinated side win six times out of their their last eight outings, a similar record to John Sheridan's men.

Donachie said: "I'm very impressed with what John Sheridan's done for a young manager but I think he'll agree that the game's about good players and Oldham have a very strong squad. I don't want to take anything away from John Sheridan, he's built a strong squad, but the board must have backed him all the way. I saw them at Northampton Town and they're a strong, organised side. They have a balance of experience and youth, they're strong at the back and have pace up front. To win away at Swansea was a fantastic result because they're one of the best teams I've seen."

"Our players are starting to be more confident. It's going to be a tough game but we feel we can give anybody a good game. We're coming to give Oldham all the respect in the world but we won't be frightened of them."

Whatever happens in the game Willie should receive a warm welcome from the Oldham faithful for all that he did in those momentous years alongside big Joe Royle.
