After watching a video of the event the Latics camp stated, “Regulations don’t allow us to ask the referee to review his decision. But when he sits down and views a tape of the match, we are sure he will take a close look at the incident involving Les Pogliacomi. If he feels he has made a mistake, then we hope he will contact the FA.” Of the incident, Dowie said, “Les is distraught because he was simply reaching across a much smaller player. He definitely didn’t throw an elbow at anybody’s head, it just isn’t in his nature to do something like that.”
