Dowie not happy with Bury defeat

A disappointed Iain Dowie said after the defeat at Bury, “That was an abject performance and nowhere near the standards I set. It is simply not acceptable in any shape or form and it was not good enough. There were no real bright spots for me.”

“The first goal was a poor goal to concede. The marking in the box was not tight enough and we've got to work more on that as we are conceding too many goals. We spent even more time on defending and I can’t allow it to continue. The lads have been monumental at times this season but we were far too deep for Bury’s first goal and the second was a free header in an area we should have been covering. Our passing is something else that needs work because all we did was huff and puff. We didn’t match Bury in any department.”

“If we had got our game together at any stage we could maybe have got something out of the game but Bury deserved the result because we didn't do anything well enough. We never played any fluent football. It was frightful and there are a lot of things for us to work on. The performance of the subs., Carlos Roca and Ernie Cooksey, were the only positives.”
