Dowie signs a new deal

Ex-manager Iain Dowie's contract has been extended at Selhurst Park. Crystal Palace have been in talks with him after some fans had been speculating that he did not want to commit his future to the club. The rumour mill went round about him going after this job and that. Now where have Oldham fans heard that before?

Dowie's reputation has grown significantly after he turned round a faltering club and made them into a Premiership team, albeit a struggling one as expected. The Eagles have had four managers in the last three years with Alan Smith, Steve Bruce, Trevor Francis and Steve Kember. Dowie's original contract was for an 18 month period but he has been rewarded with a four year deal after getting the team to the top flight after winning the play-offs last season. I wonder what the odds are on him seeing out his contract!
