Dowie sums up

Iain Dowie summed up the feelings of his players with an emotional summary of the season’s achievements when he said, “It's and emotional moment for me. I have to say, in the dressing room afterwards I said that I was immensely proud of them. It's not an over-used word, my son William was on my shoulders and it was great to see him there. I wish my dad was here to see it. He's now dead but he was the biggest influence of my life. My mum was here fortunately enough, with my wife and my little boy- my other boy's away for the weekend."

"But these are great moments for me. I was saying to the lads that I would be proud to have any of them players as my sons. Over this season what they've put up with, I have never heard anyone speak badly of these lads and that's testimony to what sort of lads they are. I would rather be a good person than a good football player- but these lads are also great footballers!”
