Dowie to quit?

The defeat at Loftus Road may have more significance than just having to play another season in the Second Division, as prospects of Iain Dowie quitting Athletic have again been raised. Dowie has yet to sign a contract and fears are
being raised that he could be tempted away as other clubs have been impressed with what he has done in his first year in charge.

Crystal Palace, West Ham and Aston Villa are all on the lookout for coaches or managers and it could all hinge on what club owner Chris Moore (pictured) reveals as his plans for a player budget. Dowie said, “We’ll just have to see what happens and, though it would be nice to see some light at the end of the tunnel, I’ll continue to work along the lines of a five-year plan. All I know is we’ve made great strides and Chris Moore is committed for a while longer. Whether I’ll be here next season is a matter for conjecture but, as things stand, I don’t see why not.”
