Dowie upbeat

After the 1-1 home draw with Bournemouth Iain Dowie commented, “You’d always like to grab the victory, I think Scott (Vernon)’s chance was a great chance for us to wrap up the three points. But they’re in third position and not for nothing. They’re a good side and were at full strength today. Certainly we weren’t so in light of the squad we have."

"I thought that the lads gave a terrific battling performance. I wouldn’t have said that we played anywhere near what we can do, but we scrapped, fought and battled. The captain John Eyre was again the outstanding player on the pitch but I thought Calvin Zola pushed in very close. I thought he was terrific. They struggled to cope with him and that’s what you get when you chase lost causes and he does that. Then he was astute enough to play a little ball which Scott finished off very well."

"So all in all, a little bit disappointing that we didn’t win the game. I would have liked to have won it 1-0. One defensive lapse and we were punished for it. At the moment we’re getting punished for every little slip but I have to say it’s a big result for us considering the resources that we’ve got."
