Downing disappointed

A disappointed Cheltenham Town manager Keith Downing told the official Cheltenham website, "That's another two poor goals we've conceded and we're not going to win football matches or get points if you are conceding that many goals. I thought we did enough in the second half and we played a bit more forward football. It wasn't pretty to watch but the pitch wasn't condusive to good football. We needed to get forward because I thought the front two were causing them problems but we didn't get enough ball into them. It was a bit better in the second half and having hauled ourselves level it was a disappointing way to lose the game."

"I can't fault the application and effort from the boys but I don't think we played cleverly enough and didn't play to the conditions enough. We over-played a bit, particularly in our own half, and their front two caused us a few problems although we knuckled down to it a lot better in the second half. We put more pressure on their back four in the second half and got the penalty but even if we had come away with a point it would have still gone to the last day."

"What we've got to do is make sure we are right up for it next week because we've given ourselves a great opportunity. We've now had four straight defeats and that obviously affects confidence but it's a one of game next week, a cup tie. We had some great support today and we'll need that next Saturday as well. We need as many fans there as possible next week to get behind us for the day. The players are keen to finish the job off and I've worked six months bloody hard so I'm not going to give that up easily."
