Elsewhere in League One

First though, a quick look at what's happening in the top half. Though if you're like me, you'll have forgotten that the top half existed, and the first thing you do as soon as you see the league table is to look at the bottom, and make sure Latics aren't in the relegation zone.

Luton maintained their 3 point lead at the top with a 3-1 win over Swindon. Hull beat relegation-threatened Torquay 2-0 to cement their position in the second automatic promotion spot. Hull and Luton look as though they will stay in the promotion slots until the end of the season. Third and fourth placed teams Sheffield Wednesday and Tranmere are a whopping ten points behind Hull in second place. Tranmere do have a game in hand, though. Bournemouth and Hartlepool make up the other playoff spaces.

Now let's get down to the interesting bit. Stockport lost again, 2-1 to Colchester. This means that County are 14 points away from safety, and their goal difference of -34(!?) will probably count against them if they do manage to claw themselves back from the abyss.

Peterborough let a 2-0 lead slip to Bradford. Two goals by Dean Windass in the 64th and 73rd minute saw that Posh only took a point. Peterborough are eight points away from the promised land of 20th position, and need to start winning games like that if they are to stay up. They do have a game in hand, which is to be played on Wednesday against fourth-placed Tranmere.

It would be nice just to gloss over Wrexham's 1-0 win against Latics yesterday. But it's impossible to - Wrexham are one of the form teams in League One, with only one loss in twelve league and cup games. That is due in some part to Juan Ugarte, who is far, far too good for League One. It's a miracle he hasn't already been signed by someone like Birmingham or Aston Villa, who seem to perpetually buy strikers. And if it were not for having ten points deducted for going into administration, they would be in the relative utopia of 14th place.

Making up the numbers in the final drop spot is Torquay, who lost 2-0 to Hull. On 37 points, they are two points behind MK Dons, who drew 1-1 with low lying Port Vale.

And then, on 39 points and in 19th position, is Oldham Athletic. Latics have a tough run in, having to play all top four clubs in their last ten games. I still think that we will stay up. I can feel it in my bones...
